Thousands of UAE residents receive job offers from employers in Poland, Malta, the Czech Republic, Romania, Croatia and other European countries every year. Once your employer secures a work permit, the next step is a national long-stay visa (Type D), applied for at the embassy or its visa application centre in the UAE. This guide explains how it works and how EEC Travels helps with the two documents almost every file needs: a verifiable flight reservation and travel medical insurance.
Important: EEC Travels is a private service provider. We do not issue work permits or visas and we do not find jobs. Work permits are issued by the destination country's authorities and visas are decided only by the embassy or consulate.
Type C vs Type D: what is the difference?
- Type C (Schengen short-stay): tourism, business or family visits up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Not for employment.
- Type D (national long-stay): issued by one country for stays over 90 days, such as employment, seasonal work or study. It usually also allows travel within the Schengen Area during its validity.
Popular European work visa destinations for UAE residents
Poland – work permit + national visa (Type D)
Your Polish employer obtains the work permit (zezwolenie na pracę) from the local voivodeship office. You then apply for a national D visa with the work permit, passport, photos, insurance and travel details. Appointment availability for Poland in the UAE is often limited, so prepare your file early.
Malta – Single Permit
Your employer applies to Identità for your Single Permit. Once approval in principle is issued, you apply for the entry visa with the approval letter, passport, insurance and flight details.
Czech Republic – Employee Card
The Employee Card combines residence and work authorisation. Expect strict document checks and official translations where required.
Romania – long-stay visa for employment (D/AM)
After your employer obtains the work authorisation from the General Inspectorate for Immigration, you apply for the D/AM visa at the consulate.
Other countries
Croatia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Portugal and Germany also issue national work visas. Requirements differ, so always follow the checklist published by the specific embassy.
Typical Type D work visa checklist
- Passport with sufficient validity (many embassies prefer 12+ months) and copies of previous visas
- UAE residence visa and Emirates ID
- Original work permit or approval letter from the destination country
- Signed employment contract or job offer
- Attested educational / experience certificates and police clearance, where required
- Recent photos to the embassy's specification
- Flight reservation showing your planned entry date
- Travel medical insurance – commonly minimum €30,000 cover incl. repatriation until your local health insurance starts
Flight reservation for your work visa – AED 80
Do not buy an expensive ticket before your visa is approved. EEC Travels provides a genuine, verifiable airline flight reservation for AED 80, one-way or return, ordered online on WhatsApp from anywhere in the UAE. Avoid free "dummy ticket" generators: an itinerary that cannot be verified can damage your file.
Our flight reservation is for embassy visa documentation only. It is not a travel ticket and cannot be used for travel. Order your flight reservation.
Travel insurance for your Type D visa
EEC Travels arranges travel medical insurance through approved insurance providers, with cover for the period the embassy asks for. Message us your travel dates and destination for a quote; the certificate is delivered digitally. Ask for an insurance quote on WhatsApp.
Where UAE residents submit European visa applications
Depending on the country, applications are submitted at the embassy in Abu Dhabi or through visa centres such as VFS Global, TLScontact or BLS International in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Always confirm the correct centre on the embassy's official website.

Frequently asked questions
Can EEC Travels get me a European work permit?
No. Work permits are obtained by your employer from the destination country's authorities. We help with travel documents for your visa file.
Do I need a one-way or return flight reservation for a D visa?
Many work visa files accept a one-way reservation, but some embassies ask for return. Follow your embassy's checklist; we can issue either.
How much is the flight reservation?
AED 80 per reservation, for embassy visa documentation only.
What insurance cover do I need?
Many embassies require at least €30,000 medical cover including repatriation. We arrange policies through approved providers matching your embassy's requirement.
Can I apply for a Type D visa while on a UAE visit visa?
Most embassies require applicants in the UAE to hold a valid UAE residence visa. Visit visa holders usually need to apply from their home country. Check with the embassy.
Is visa approval guaranteed?
No. Only the embassy or consulate decides. Our fees cover service handling only.
