Short answer: Yes. A child under 18 can get a UAE tourist visa without a parent on the same application — but only through a Sharjah tourist visa. The Dubai system does not allow a child's tourist visa to be submitted without a parent. For a child applying alone, the adult visa rate applies.

Who counts as a child?

For UAE tourist visa applications, anyone under 18 years old is treated as a child (minor).

Dubai tourist visa: not possible without a parent

On the Dubai system, a child's tourist visa cannot be applied for on its own. It is not a case of approval or rejection — the application simply cannot be processed unless a parent is included. So if the child is travelling alone, a Dubai tourist visa is not an option.

Sharjah tourist visa: the child can apply alone

Through Sharjah, a child under 18 can be applied for individually, with no parent on the application. Because the child is the main applicant, the adult tourist visa rate applies, not the child rate.

Who uses this most?

Mostly parents who live in the UAE on a residence visa while their child is still in the home country. Instead of travelling back to apply together, parents can get a Sharjah tourist visa for the child so the child can come to the UAE. It also works for children visiting other relatives in the UAE.
